Marjorie Nelson recently joined Hello Viking and specializes in event planning. Her experience includes the position of event coordinator for the MSP Host Committee of the 2008 RNC. She says of the experience, “Once in a hundred years this event comes to the Twin Cities, it was very cool to play a part!” She has also worked in catering and meetings for Hyatt Hotels, Sheraton Corporation and Grand Bay Hotels and as an independent contractor for Target Corporation. She parlayed business ability into fundraising skills and brought her talent to numerous area non profit fundraisers including the 1997 Symphony Ball, Minnesota Medical Foundation, the American Liver Foundation, Inner City Tennis, Children’s Museum and the Children’s Theatre. Marjorie has dedicated the past 17 years to the Twin Cities community, serving on the boards of the Minnesota Orchestral Association, Vocal Essence, the Children’s Museum of Minnesota, Operation Smile International, Lifesource, Sierra Leone Plymouth Partnership  and The Blake School.

Marjorie’s areas of focus and service have changed over the years as her children have grown, but she is always interested in underserved populations, education, music, and healthcare. She was a founding member of the Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation and has the unique experience of sitting on both sides of the funding equation.

Marjorie studied Medical Technology at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is a classical pianist,  scuba diver, and yoga instructor.
