During the spring of 2010 we collaborated with the marketing team at VocalEssence on the naming and identity for their fundraising Gala, which occurs every two years. This Gala is centered on a Mexican theme (the last was an African theme).
Our process included research into the breadth of “Mexican” typography, color space, photography, illustration and fine arts, from ancient forms to present day.
We initially presented three groupings of aesthetics along with potential names for the Gala. These groupings included reference for color palette, typography, photo and illustration style—our goal being to provide differentiation, to guide a conversation.
After a review, we refined two directions and the team ultimately selected one. The end result included the name and mark seen here, color palette, display and copy typefaces and illustrative elements; all of which were employed across “save the date” mailers, invitations, the Gala website and event materials.
