We worked for Anheuser-Busch (at a previous agency) during the first gold rush of microbrewing, helping to develop new products—in this case, a line of microbeers based on pre-Prohibition recipes found in A-B’s vaults. We launched the American Originals with advertising that looked and sounded as if it had been created back when the beers themselves had first been served.
Of course, radio didn’t exist in the late 1880s when Faust Lager and Muenchener debuted. But we had fun developing a language and sound design to evoke the era. Interestingly, these spots achieved very high recall scores on FM rock stations.
